Happy Earth Day!
Fashion is an industry that has severely impacted our planet and our resources, but most importantly, to the workers affected by the unfair labor laws and poor working conditions, including lack of fair wages. This week is Fashion Revolution week, and today is also Earth Day!
Anyways, I found thrifting and buying secondhand to be fun and feeling good as I repurpose and give new life to pieces that have been unwanted by their owner. I went to Goodwill in Glendale where it’s sold by weight instead of per item, and that was such as steal! I ended up spending $16 for this outfit plus reusing old shoes that I barely use/use on special occasions.
The bag was from Beautscapesco from a giveaway I won. It’s an artisan handwoven Palm Leaf Bag and I love using it when I go to Farmer’s Markets in Los Angeles (my faves are Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Atwater Village)! I love this bag because it’s durable and made from sustainable materials plus supports local artisans.
I’m loving this newfound habit of supporting my local community while also remixing what I have in my closet and thrifting/buying secondhand items. Maybe I should make a new hashtag? #BlushingRemixed ? #RemixedMatters ?
